YOUR MISSION

The Payroll Manager sits within the People & Organization team and is responsible for end-to-end administration of payroll activities for approximately 3,000 employees in US & Canada. The Payroll Manager will manage the payroll processing, tax remittances, reconciliations, reporting and related compliance requirements while serving as a key point of contact for employees, vendors and internal stakeholders. The Payroll Manager is an individual contributor, reporting to the Director People Technology & Operations, and plays an essential role in the P&O team.

  • Support and maintain multi-state (US) and multi-province (Canada) payroll
  • Reconcile and audit all timecards for hourly paid staff in US and Canada using Workday and Kronos Dimensions
  • Fully own the entire payroll process from start to finish, consistently monitoring the process for enhancement and efficiency increases
  • Create & load Workday EIBs for Payroll Inputs, Off-Cycles and various other payroll transactions
  • Ensure accurate calculations for all wages, taxes, benefit deductions, etc. (including reversals, voids, and on-demand payments)
  • Process, balance and transmit payroll files on a weekly and semi-monthly basis from Workday to OSV
  • Understand, process, reconcile and transmit all quarterly and annual tax files from Workday to OSV
  • Manage registrations and access points for all state and provincial payroll tax accounts
  • Administer monthly invoices for timely AP processing of state and provincial tax, worker's compensation, etc.
  • Complete all year-end processing for US and Canada with respective agencies (W2, W2c, T4, RL-1, T2200, etc.)
  • Ensure proper calculation and grants of all accrual plans
  • Update and maintain all employee garnishments for US and Canada
  • Investigate complex payroll issues, identify causes, and formulate recommendations
  • Interface with Accounting/Finance for issue resolution, data integrity, and successful monthly close
  • Work with People Rewards Team on calculations and preparation for all leave of absence pay inputs
  • Accountable for producing, sharing necessary reports from Workday & Kronos Dimensions
  • Responsible for adhering to ROE compliance with filings and delivery
  • Respond timely and professionally to internal customer inquiries regarding all payroll issues
  • Manage and complete Annual Worker's Compensation audit with external agency
  • Work alongside VP Corporate Tax to comply with Unclaimed Property processes
  • Liaison with Finance, Corporate & Retail P&O Partners ADHOC processing items, bonus calculations, etc.
  • Additional payroll related reporting, audits & projects as needed
YOUR TALENT
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience processing US multi-state payroll required (30+ states, including Puerto Rico); and processing Canada multi-provincial payroll
  • Understanding of Payroll Tax Compliance in US and Canada
  • Experience working with Kronos UKG, Workday and OSV systems highly desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial Tax Regulations and in-depth knowledge of Employment Standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required and demonstrated ability to see big picture
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be well organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Proficiency with Excel and other MS Office applications required
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn systems and processes

The hiring range base pay for this position is $57,00-$75,810 + Bonus + Benefits
