Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or animal research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of animal housing and equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on department & researcher needs. Job Duty 1 -
Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.

Job Duty 2 -
Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.

Job Duty 3 -
Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.

Job Duty 4 -
May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.

Job Duty 5 -
Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements
BSc and experience with veterinary surgery and animal models with a variety of animal species.

Required Experience
Veterinary assisting experience, with medical & surgical experience with a variety of animal species.

BSc

• A minimum one year of experience in a laboratory animal facility cage wash

• A high school diploma or equivalent AND at least one year of related experience.

• The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• The ability to push and pull heavy loads.

• Ability to work and remain standing for long periods.

• Ability to use protective equipment.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, practices and standard procedures.

• Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving

• record.

KNOWLEDGE
Veterinary assisting experience, with medical & surgical experience with a variety of animal species.

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and the use of specialized anesthesia monitoring equipment.

Performs routine duties in support of animal research facilities including washing housing components,

sanitizing animal rooms, and support areas.

Responsibilities:

Sanitizes animal caging components, operates industrial washing equipment, sanitizes animal

rooms and support areas.

Maintains accurate records including wash cycle reports, environmental conditions, inventory

and daily activity.

Performs other duties as required.

Hourly range: $20.50-$21.50/hour
