SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

The consumer lender II meets assigned goals by sourcing, developing, and managing loan accounts which meet established lending requirements that provide maximum profitability to the Bank with minimum of risk while following established bank policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

It is the responsibility of the consumer lender II to administer and coordinate the lending activities of the assigned branches. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Interviews loan applicants and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Establishes, and negotiates where necessary the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.
  • Approves up to the amount of Lending Authority.
  • Extends credit for a mix of consumer, Business Loan Express (BLE), and commercial loans.
  • Collects and analyzes information which reflects the current credit worthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant's business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports, personal interviews, etc.
  • Is knowledgeable of the Bank's Loan Policy and lending underwriting, procedural, and loan rate guidelines. Be knowledgeable of changes to the policies and guidelines as they are implemented.
  • Is knowledgeable of regulatory lending requirements and be following the guidelines and loan disclosure requirements.
  • Monitors loan repayment activities and takes necessary action to collect past-due accounts.
  • Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the Customer Service Standards Manual.
  • Develops new business by contacting prospects and customers; also, cross-sells bank services.
  • Participates in community affairs to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
  • Serves as a contact officer for non-borrowing accounts and loan customers for matters relating to other bank services.
  • Knows and ensures compliance to all banking regulations to include Regulation CC and Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience as a lender, strong interpersonal skills, strong PC skills, previous banking experience
  • Knowledge: Excellent customer relations and communication skills, planning and organizational skills, good decision-making skills, excellent writing skills, training and oral presentation skills, customer service orientation, initiative

Training Requirements/Classes

  • Lending School
  • Recommended Additional Training: New Employee Orientation, Product Knowledge Class, PC Navigator, CRM, as well as continual update of processes of banking systems.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Must be willing to travel within assigned region; periodically, may be required to travel outside of region for meetings and classes, must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports.
