KPMG is currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic direct entry Managing Director to join our Regulatory and Compliance team.

Responsibilities:
  • Instrumental in leading efforts to sell and deliver our offerings related to non-financial risk and trade surveillance space; the role involves significant interaction with large financial services clients, requiring a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, deep technical expertise in current and expected GSIB practices and the ability to drive business growth
  • Develop a sustainable book of business that includes $5-8M of annual revenue delivered across strategic Financial Services clients; expand existing client base to sell and deliver service offerings in on-financial risk and trade surveillance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at client organizations such as the CRO, Head of Non-Financial or Operational Risk, Head of Market Surveillance, Business Risk Officers, Chief Controls Officer and Chief Operating Officers
  • Lead proposals and pitch presentations to prospective clients; oversee the delivery of comprehensive regulatory compliance solutions for clients, ensuring high-quality outcomes; work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address complex regulatory challenges
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a high-performance culture; work closely with other leaders within the firm to drive strategic initiatives
  • Act as a thought leader in the industry, representing KPMG at industry conferences, while building and maintaining a professional network, advise clients on emerging trends and regulations impacting the financial services sector
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related field, with a significant portion in leadership roles; extensive experience working directly with large financial services clients; prior consultancy experience is preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD and more) is strongly preferred
  • Trade Surveillance and Market Manipulation; extensive experience in designing and implementing trade surveillance methodologies to detect and mitigate market manipulation or abusive behavior; deep technical knowledge trade surveillance frameworks, target operating models and controls used in the financial services industry at GSIB clients; deep domain expertise in market abuse regulations and the ability to advise clients on best practices and compliance strategies; ability to design and implement sophisticated data analytics and automated techniques to enable surveillance methodologies
  • Non-Financial Risk Management; deep expertise in managing non-financial risks, including operational, cyber, conduct and reputation risks; experience working with and insights into current practices of Global Systemically Important Banks (G-SIBs) and understanding the unique challenges they face; deep technical expertise in developing, implementing and tuning non-financial risk frameworks including standards, methodologies, target operating models and cost take out and efficiency reviews tailored to large, complex organizations; experience designing and leading large scale enterprise wide Risk transformation Programs
  • Regulatory Expectations; in-depth understanding of the regulatory expectations set forth by the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) applicable to non-financial risk and trade surveillance programs; ability to navigate the complex regulatory environment and provide strategic advice to clients on compliance matters including regulatory response and planning, regulatory management strategies and executing large scale remediation programs at FS clients; experience engaging with regulatory bodies and conducting regulatory readiness assessments
  • Proven track record of successful business development and client management at a senior level; ability to quickly adapt to changing regulations and client needs, ensuring continuous learning and improvement; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions; excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging C-level executives
