Job Description

As part of Talent Development, the Instructional Designer collaborates directly with the Leadership Development team and business units to design high-quality in-person and continuous learning experiences. This role focuses on purposeful learning design, strong content structure, and measurable outcomes for adult learners in a facilitated environment. Your work ensures consistency across programs while allowing flexibility for specific audience and business needs. The ideal candidate applies adult learning theory, cognitive load principles, learner-centered design, and instructional design models (such as ADDIE) to create clear, relevant, and motivating learning experiences. Strong collaboration with business leaders, functional leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and cross-functional partners is vital to understand learning needs and deliver high-impact solutions within established timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test standardized leadership and professional development curricula for Regional Leadership Academies (in-person delivery and continuous learning materials) with minimal variations.
  • Apply adult learning theory, cognitive load principles, and learner-centered design to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
  • Analyze complex content and structure it into sequenced, digestible modules, ensuring clarity, relevance, and learner motivation.
  • Create detailed storyboards, scripts, and design documents to support multimedia development and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Develop engaging learning materials across multiple leadership subject areas, aligned with clearly defined learning objectives and outcomes for Regional Leadership Academies.
  • Design formative and summative assessments, including valid quiz and knowledge-check items, and align evaluation methods with learning outcomes.
  • Use AI-powered and instructional design tools to streamline content development and enhance efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to gather requirements, manage review cycles, and ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including timelines, scope, version control, and stakeholder expectations-often in iterative or Agile-inspired workflows.
  • Maintain design standards, templates, and style guidelines to ensure consistency, accessibility, and usability across programs.
  • Review learning analytics and feedback (e.g., LMS data, completion rates, assessment results) to continuously improve learning effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education or Educational Technology, Learning Technologies, Adult Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience designing and developing in-person learning experiences and continuous learning materials for adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Experience creating structured storyboards, scripts, and learning design documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Camtasia, Captivate, or similar platforms, including basic multimedia editing (audio, video, graphics).
  • Strong visual design awareness, including layout, typography, contrast, accessibility, and intuitive navigation aligned to established standards.
  • Experience designing assessments and evaluation strategies that demonstrate learning effectiveness through measurable outcomes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and apply learning analytics (e.g., LMS data, item analysis, completion metrics) to refine and optimize content.
  • Experience coordinating with SMEs and stakeholders through structured review cycles.
  • Familiarity with leadership competency frameworks and organizational development principles.
