The City of Corona is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to lead, inspire, and elevate creative community recreation programs. This role is ideal for a dynamic recreation leader who enjoys supervising staff, managing diverse programs, and partnering with the community to create meaningful recreational opportunities for all ages.
Potential Areas of Oversight:
- Program Development
- Contract Classes for all ages
- Senior programs
- Budget development and monitoring
- Special events and rental spaces
- Fine arts programming
- Youth and adult sports league and athletics
- Staff management - including development and supervision
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Education:
- Equivalent to completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, public or business administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the implementation of recreation programming involving budget and program development responsibilities, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Develop, implement, and evaluate recreation programs, facilities, and special events that meet community needs
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; ensure effective performance and professional development
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and professional standards
- Research, analyze, and recommend program improvements and new service delivery methods
- Represent the department and City with community groups, agencies, and partner organizations
- Create marketing and outreach materials, including print and digital media
- Respond to public inquiries and complaints; prepare clear reports and maintain accurate records
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid CPR and first aid certification issued by the American Red Cross, to be maintained throughout employment.
The position is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation and may be required to work nights and weekends as needed.

THE ORGANIZATION
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year. The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works, and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and an Assistant City Manager. The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2026 is $422.7 million with a General Fund operating budget of $231.3 million.
