Role/Department Summary: As part of the Trust's Prospect Development team, the Prospect Development Analyst (data) is responsible for conducting data-driven analysis and comprehensive research on individuals, foundations, and corporations in support of campaign fundraising efforts at Boston Children's Hospital. Key priorities for the role include performing in-depth research and wealth analysis, managing and interpreting large datasets, and leveraging advanced data analysis to uncover actionable insights.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain large datasets to analyze the prospect pipeline and identify donor trends. Utilize Excel by leveraging formulas, pivots, and other advanced functionalities for analysis. An understanding of querying in SQL is preferable to manage key data sets
  • Conduct research on individuals, corporations, and foundations identified as significant gift prospects. Prepare detailed wealth and capacity analyses, including family background, career/business data, philanthropic interests, and estimated giving capacity
  • Develop statistical models and reports in collaboration with analysts and consultants to support effective prospect identification and provide insights into giving trends. Ideally utilizes R or Python to implement internal models as well as manage external models
  • Identify and qualify new prospects through routine screenings and employment of electronic research tools including wealth screening tools, Lexis/Nexis, and SEC filings
  • Provide assistance with large-scale CRM data entry, coding, and reporting to ensure prospect data accuracy and usability across the Trust
  • Prepare and present prospect strategy briefings and participate in prospect strategy discussions and portfolio reviews
  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of all prospect information. Understands and adheres to all confidentiality and privacy policies including HIPAA, and the APRA and NEDRA codes of ethics
Education Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree and a min of three (3) years in a fundraising or direct sales business environment is required
  • Requires the knowledge of theories, principles, concepts, and technical proficiency typically acquired through two to three years of experience in a major gift fundraising organization
Experience:
  • Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to use advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization tools to organize and interpret large datasets. Strong querying skills in SQL, as well as programming skills in R or Python, are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with prospect research tools (such as wealth screening tools, Lexis/Nexis, online databases) and methodologies for assessing financial data and philanthropic interests
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and condense it into clear, concise reports. Experience working with sensitive and confidential data accurately and professionally
  • Strong analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for interpreting statistical or financial information
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and gift capacity estimation methodologies preferred but not required
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and ad hoc projects
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present findings to internal stakeholders
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM and Tableau is preferred

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
