POSITION SUMM ARY:

This position will also provide independent management oversight to verify work performance complies with nuclear facility and waste management discipline operations and requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides independent oversight of fieldwork to verify work performance complies with nuclear facility and waste management disciplined operations and requirements.
  • Interacts with all personnel that work within N3B's nuclear facilities to identify Issues and uses CAS to document the Issue to its resolution - including providing feedback to the work force.
  • Leads N3B institutional initiatives, assessments, investigations, corrective action, and overall performance improvement initiatives to improve the overall safety culture and operational discipline.
  • Working with Facility Operations, will develop and implement an operational improvement plan for simulated field abnormal operating conditions and the work force's responses to the simulations.
  • Implements the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) in N3B's nuclear facilities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Level 3: A bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
  • Level 4: A bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and a minimum of 9 years of related experience. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITY:

Level 3:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of nuclear facility requirements including conduct of operations, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge and experience in nuclear facility operations including safety and quality management, radiological controls, emergency preparedness, performance assurance processes, corrective action development, problem solving, management and management improvement.
  • Working knowledge and experience in conducting and preparing for various assessments which include management self-assessments, contractor operational readiness reviews (CORRs), independent assessments, event investigations and effectiveness assessments.
  • Working skilled and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
  • Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment.

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Level 4:

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of nuclear facility requirements including conduct of operations, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in nuclear facility operations including safety and quality management, radiological controls, emergency preparedness, performance assurance processes, corrective action development, problem solving, management and management improvement.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in conducting and preparing for various assessments which include management self-assessments, contractor operational readiness reviews (CORRs), independent assessments, event investigations and effectiveness assessments.
  • Intermediate skilled and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.

BUSINESS ASSOCIATION:

Level 3: Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Level 4: Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies plans, and objectives.

IMPACT:

Level 3: Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon on the administration of the organization.

Level 4: Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
