The Senior Legal Counsel will assist the Investigations Associate General Counsel in oversight of Enbridge's Enterprise Compliance Program. They will be responsible for investigating alleged misconduct, establishing standards, controls and procedures to reduce non-compliance, unethical, and improper conduct, for ensuring standards are communicated and institutionalized throughout Enbridge, and for monitoring compliance with standards and procedures.

What You Will Do:
  • Work with the Ethics and Compliance investigations team to conduct internal investigations into allegations of ethics and compliance-related misconduct.

  • Think innovatively and strategically to provide effectiveness enhancements and assist with management of the Ethics and Compliance investigations program.

  • Strategically develop and prioritize proactive monitoring in key risk areas for timely discovery of potential misconduct.

  • Advise on, implement, and continuously assess protocols and technologies to ensure effective, efficient, and consistent investigative processes.

  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Keep abreast of changes in applicable rules, regulations, standards and related trends that are relevant to Enbridge operations and the Ethics and Compliance program and to make vital modifications to policies and procedures.

  • Provide training and continuous advice to Company personnel concerning ethics and compliance topics, and work with other corporate support functions to develop training materials for compliance-related issues.

  • Evaluate and provide compliance-related advice to Company business units.

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit, Human Resources, Safety, Legal, Business Leadership, and other stakeholders to mitigate and address risk across the company.

Who You Are:
  • You possess a Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited university.

  • Membership in a law society/bar association.

  • 8+ years of experience in legal work with law firm, government, or in-house legal group after receiving bar association membership.

  • 5+ years conducting ethics, compliance, misconduct, or similar investigations.

  • Ability to adapt quickly, prioritize optimally, and have a highly developed level of common sense and eye for business.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Typical office work environment.

  • Travel up to 25%.

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $135,100 - $216,300 USD for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.

  • Ranges from $150,000 - $200,000 CAD for Ontario Canada locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
