Job Description

The Broadcast and Live Events Producer is responsible for overseeing the production and coordination of various broadcasts and live events, ensuring their successful execution and seamless delivery to our audiences. The Broadcast and Live Events Producer will collaborate with various teams, including production crews, talent, technicians, and stakeholders, to ensure the highest level of quality and professionalism in all aspects of the production process.
The Live Events Producer is an executionfirst, onsite event leader whose core responsibility is runofshow ownership and backstage execution. You will be responsible for owning the full endtoend production lifecycle of WGU's live events-from creative concept development through onsite execution and postevent analysis. This role serves as the operational and creative backbone of each event, with direct accountability for developing and managing detailed runofshow documents that drive flawless execution. Acting as the onsite production lead, the producer partners closely with senior leaders, content, communications, and technical teams to translate strategy into tightly orchestrated live experiences, providing backstage leadership, show calling, and realtime decisionmaking to ensure every event is delivered with precision, consistency, and impact.
What You'll Do * Flawless Live Execution and Manage the full end-to-end production lifecycle - from creative concepts to onsite execution and post-event analysis.

* Develop scalable production playbooks, standards, and models to ensure quality and consistency across all event formats.

* Partner with stakeholders and technical experts to design creative stage design, and production strategies aligned with WGU's goals.

* Work with Senior event manager to oversee all technical production elements - staging, lighting, sound and streaming - to deliver world-class experiences.

* Collaborate with Communications, and academic departments to align messaging, scheduling, and objectives.

* Works closely with the Content manager to integrate messaging, visuals, and timing seamlessly into the show flow.

* Collaborate with creative teams to produce motion graphics, videos and other show assets.

* Manage backstage operations on live events

* Serve as liaison between WGU clients and production teams to coordinate content, scheduling, and logistics.

* Develop and manage production schedules, run-of-show documents, and timelines for seamless execution.

* Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping how WGU communicates through live and digital experiences.

* Coordinate entertainment bookings and ensure all associated production needs are met.

* Other responsibilities as assigned.

* Proficiency with event and production management software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Run of Show or similar).

* Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain composure under pressure during live events.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, professional event experiences.

* Familiarity with virtual and hybrid event platforms and current trends in live content production.

Minimum Qualifications:

Portfolio or Work Samples of live events they have produced. This may include runofshow documents, production schedules, event case studies, photos, or written summaries describing their role in onsite execution, backstage management, and show calling.
Live event documentation or descriptions are preferred over edited video or broadcastonly samples.

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, communications, media production, film, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current 5+ years of handson experience producing live events, including endtoend ownership from planning through onsite execution and postevent evaluation.

  • Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and executing detailed runofshow documents, production schedules, and timelines to drive seamless live event execution.

  • Proven experience serving as the onsite production lead, including backstage management, show calling, and realtime decisionmaking during live events.

  • Experience producing largescale, complex live or hybrid events for large organizations, agencies, or production houses; experience in higher education or corporate environments preferred.

  • Strong project management capabilities, with a track record of managing multiple concurrent events and deadlines while maintaining quality and consistency.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executive leadership and crossfunctional stakeholders, aligning messaging, content, and production execution.

  • Working knowledge of live event production workflows, tools, and technologies, including event and production management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, runofshow or similar tools).

  • Ability to remain composed under pressure, adapt quickly during live execution, and apply sound judgment in highstakes, timesensitive environments.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% and work across multiple time zones as required by event schedules.
