Job Summary

Equinix's SVP, Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services essential for data center operations. The CPO will lead a global team of 140+ responsible for all Procurement activities and effective supply chain for Equinix, which includes categories for all aspects of Operations, Corporate and Technology. This role involves driving procurement governance standards, implementing best practices and procurement systems, and aligning the procurement function with the organization's strategic goals. The CPO plays a pivotal role in enabling the Equinix's Build Bolder strategy and growth aspirations and, in addition to ensuring the right products are at the right place at the right time to drive revenue, this role is also responsible for future-proofing the organization by building a flexible, scalable structure that can adapt to market shifts and business growth. The CPO will serve as a key advisor to the executive team on organizational design, supply trends and innovation, market dynamics, and ensuring the function is aligned with the company's long-term goals.

Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with the company's objectives, focusing on cost reduction, working capital and cash optimization (e.g., payment terms, inventory optimization, consignment strategies), quality improvement, risk mitigation and optimal operationalization

  • Drive Equinix sustainability and ESG objectives

  • Establish and drive standardized procurement processes and automation across the org to enhance scalability

  • Oversee major category management strategies (incl. corporate services) to optimize spend, improve supplier performance, and ensure alignment with business priorities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with terms and conditions

  • Serve as a thought leader on procurement innovation, market trends, and emerging risks


Operational Responsibilities


  • Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team with agility and ability to deliver on the Build Bolder strategy, fostering a culture of accountability, capability building, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Work closely with other functions, including operations, finance, and legal, to support organizational goals and initiatives

  • Implement procurement processes and systems to streamline operations, improve transparency

  • Ensure timely delivery of commodities and services critical to the company's capital development projects

  • Implement best practice procurement systems e.g., MRP to enable real-time analytics and data insights to optimize supplier relationships, reduce waste, and improve overall procurement value


Risk Management


  • Future-proof the organization by building a flexible, scalable structure that can adapt to market shifts and business growth

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitics, to ensure business continuity and resilience

  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions, shortages, and market volatility

  • Monitor global market dynamics and regulatory changes to anticipate and address potential risks


Financial Responsibilities


  • Achieve cost reduction and value creation objectives

  • Ensure procurement contributes to financial performance by optimizing spend and managing budgets effectively

  • Track and report on key procurement metrics, ensuring transparency and alignment with financial goals


Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience


  • Deep experience in procurement or supply chain management with experience in scaled, global leadership roles, preferably within the data center or technology sectors

  • Preferably certified in Supply Management (CPSM) or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification

  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving organizational change

  • Proven track record of managing global procurement, supplier development, integrated sourcing in capital-heavy industries across geographies with large-scale spend and complex supply chains

  • Experience in managing relevant global commodity categories such as power infrastructure, IT infrastructure, construction materials and equipment, data center operations and facilities management

  • Expertise in navigating global supply chain challenges including management of tariffs, geopolitical risk, contingency planning

  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, market trends, and emerging technologies

  • Commitment to ethical procurement practices and corporate responsibility

  • Deep understanding of procurement best practices, contract law, and supplier relationship management


The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Ashburn Office AEO, Dallas Infomart Office DAI, Denver Office DEO, New York City Office NYO1, Seattle Office SES: 300,000 - 450,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
