Security Officer - Exterior Patrol Rounds

As a Security Officer - Exterior Patrol Rounds in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a renowned education and cultural campus, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, remain visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm, clear communication. You will support students, staff, and visitors through strong customer service, detailed reporting, and teamwork, bringing integrity, reliability, agility, and innovation to every shift.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access guidelines, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout academic and public areas, including entrances, hallways, stairwells, exterior perimeter, and parking areas as assigned, documenting notable activity.
• Monitor entry points and interior spaces for unusual conditions, policy violations, and unsecured doors, and take appropriate action to help to deter unauthorized access and/or damage to property.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with on-site personnel and public responders when needed and completing detailed incident reports.
• Support protection of artwork, exhibits, and other high-value assets by observing visitor behavior, reporting hazards and/or suspicious activity, and assisting with crowd management during events or peak visiting hours.

Minimum Requirements:

• Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Be 21+ years of age.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A guard card and/or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
