OSP Aerial Lineman - Job Description Overview The OSP Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial fiberoptic infrastructure. This role involves working at heights, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Installation * String, secure, and lash new fiberoptic cables on utility poles. * Ensure proper cable tension, support, and clearances according to industry standards. Maintenance & Repair * Inspect aerial fiber lines for wear, damage, or slack. * Perform re-tensioning, corrective maintenance, and repairs to prevent service interruptions. Splicing & Termination * Splice fiberoptic cables and terminate connections at service points. * Use industrystandard tools, equipment, and techniques to ensure precise, highquality work. Testing & Troubleshooting * Test signal integrity and optical performance using appropriate test equipment. * Identify, diagnose, and resolve line issues while ensuring compliance with technical standards. Safety * Follow all safety protocols, including fall protection, traffic control, and electrical hazard procedures. * Maintain a strong commitment to safe work practices in all aerial environments. Required Skills & Competencies * Knowledge of fiberoptic installation, splicing, and testing. * Experience in OSP construction, aerial plant work, and telecom installation. * Ability to work from bucket trucks, ladders, and/or aerial lifts. * Strong attention to detail and ability to handle delicate fiber components carefully. * Ability to work effectively as part of a crew under a lead technician or supervisor. * Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
