Job Summary:

Maintain our highly rated facilities as a Facilities Engineer with your robust skill set in a 24/7/365 environment. Feel supported by the work you do with our committed Facilities Team to drive excellence in patient care.

Key Position Details:

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour evening shift
  • Every other weekend
  • United, Mercy, or Unity campus, 2nd Class B License obtained within 15 months of employment preferred

Job Description:

Provides modification, maintenance, repairs, and operation of the heating plant equipment and boilers. When not scheduled to work in the power plant, this position modifies and repairs building systems and equipment.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Modification, maintenance, repairs, and operation of the heating plant equipment and boilers.
    • Operate and maintain the main system power plant.
    • Monitors operating pressures and temperatures of systems continuously.
    • Tests and adjusts boiler water treatment sensor to maintain proper boiler water chemistry.
    • Repairs pumps, valves, and related equipment.
    • Cleans and maintains assigned mechanical rooms and equipment.
    • May need to provide steam for services (sterilizes) and heat.
    • May need to provide deionized water and reverse ozmonics water to various labs.
  • Modify and repair building systems and equipment
    • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
    • Clean and maintain shop area, equipment and tools.
    • May need to operate trucks to plow snow and lawn equipment.
    • May need to preform emergency repairs on patient care non-clinical equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational or Technical Training in absorption and centrifugal air conditioning
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in refrigeration, welding, HVAC, pneumatic control and fire systems in a Hospital setting

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Operating/Engineer required

Physical Demands

  • Heavy Work:
  • Lifting weight up to 100 lbs. occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Flat Rate: $42.58 per hour *This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
