GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Manager 2 to provide advanced experience and team leadership in project siting, environmental studies and related environmental permitting and consultations. The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to provide project and task leadership for siting, permitting, and documentation efforts relating to electric transmission and substation projects in Florida. The Environmental Manager 2 will also be responsible for project budget and schedule management, client management, staff management, coordination with clients and regulatory agencies, business development, proposal preparation and cost estimating, and quality control reviews.

Job Duties:



  • Lead electric transmission line siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
  • Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports/consultations.
  • Permitting experience in Florida is essential.
  • Manage budgets, scopes, and schedules and quality of deliverables for specific tasks or overall projects.
  • Lead coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage technical investigations including, but not limited to, wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  • Conduct business development activities with new and existing clients.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Supervision of technical staff and provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips. Travel is estimated to occur monthly but may vary. Travel to clients, projects, and meetings in the Florida region (up to 10%).
  • Lead implementation and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.


Experience/Skills Required



  • 14+ years of experience directly related to the outlined Essential Job Duties.
  • Demonstrates strong technical writing ability.
  • Practices strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Maintains a steady ability to work both independently or as part of a team.
  • Capable of functioning well within a multi-disciplinary work team.


Travel Required



  • Work is expected to be approximately 90% office-based work with occasional travel (day trips and overnight) to Project locations, Client offices, and assorted locations for Project related meetings. Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to work indoors in professional office settings.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings.
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
  • Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences orsimilar field of study

Technical Responsibilities



  • Provides oversight and coordination ofproject tasks; Available tojunior staff for guidance; Provides opportunities to junior staff for becoming familiar with task management and financials; Working knowledge of project contract documents.
  • Recruiting and retaining staff.
  • Interpreting the strategy of top-level management and translating it into everyday policies.
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team, department, group, or division.
  • Talent development: Develop Staff skills and empowering them as problem-solvers boosts innovation and productivity.
  • Oversee learning, coaching, and career progression.


Project and Task Management



  • Capable of managing project tasks.
  • Serves as a Project Manager on small to midsize projects.


Management Responsibility



  • Initiates and manages client relationships; provide oversight and responsible for reviewing and approving all scopes; budgets; and schedules for all tasks of the overall projects; works with Task Managers to complete their assigned tasks; maintaining GAI's procedures and protocols; responsible for all aspects of financials on projects.
  • Serves as the leader of the environmental scope of project; receives administrative support and direction from Business Sector Leaders and higher-level officials of the Company.
  • Continues to manage staff with diverse skills and has a focus on supporting career path and technical growth.
  • Monitoring employee performance.
  • Making sure that processes and procedures are in compliance with the overall organization's guidelines.
  • Inspiring and encouraging employees to perform their best.
  • Assigning and supervising specific work tasks.
  • Allocating resources within a team, department, group, or division.
  • Reporting issues and performance to top-level management.
  • Well-being fostering: Prioritizing mental health, work-life integration and enhances retention.
  • Manager shapes day-to-day workplace experiences.


Communication Skills



  • Routinely interacts with clients, customers, government officials, contractors, and others; leadsproject meetings andpresentations; possess marketing and sales skills; represents Company in a positive light; interacts with Task Managers and Business Sector Leaders ona regular basis; attends meetings with higher-level officials of the company onproject status including financials.
