Overview

The Mortgage Quality Specialist-Servicing is responsible for performing quality control reviews to ensure compliance with Bank policy and procedures. You will be responsible for QC activities related to loan servicing. This will include validating system reports, follow-up for missing or inaccurate information, and performing other duties relating to loans serviced by the Bank. The QC Specialist will ensure timely completion of mortgage servicing reviews and reporting to management. Additionally, the QC Specialist will assist with other QC tasks related to loan operations as needed.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office in Columbia SC.


Responsibilities

  • Risk Management - Determines regulatory and operational risk through analysis, reviews, and reporting. Implements additional reviews as a result of regulatory and procedural changes, Compliance and Internal Audit reviews, and government examinations. Assists management with action plans that ensure resolution and mitigate future risk.
  • Analysis - Sources, compiles, and evaluates data regarding mortgage lending processes and procedures. Analyzes data to identify risk and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and Bank policy. Effectively communicates analysis output and any deficiencies or process gaps.
  • Reporting - Provides reports on deficiencies, trends, and key performance indicators to management. Researches loans identified by key performance indicators to clear any exceptions prior to report submission.
  • Coordination - Works closely with management, associates, and other business units to provide ongoing risk reviews and process audits. Assists management in implementing compliance strategies and solutions across the department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Mortgage, Risk, or Compliance OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Mortgage, Risk, or Compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years mortgage servicing and/or mortgage servicing quality control experience
  • Knowledge of policies, principles and practices of mortgage loan servicing
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan servicing documentation
  • Knowledge of federal, state and investor requirements regarding mortgage servicing
  • Knowledge of requirements related to loan satisfactions, fees and charges, mortgage insurance, tax payments, ARM changes, credit disputes, payment posting, escrow, new loan setup, payoffs, billing statements, flood insurance
  • Knowledge of loss mitigation, early payment default, delinquencies, foreclosures, and bankruptcies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Excellent time management skills

Required skills:

Knowledge of regulatory guidelines relative to mortgage lending

Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Federal Housing Administration, and Veterans Affairs underwriting guidelines

Knowledge of Encompass 360 Reporting
