Description

Our Administrative Assistant will provide comprehensive front office support to the Cataract & Refractive Surgery practice to ensure efficient clinic operations and an excellent patient experience.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Required:

  • Perform insurance verification in advance of patient visits to support smooth check-in and billing processes.
  • Register patients and ensure accuracy of demographic and insurance information.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations for managed care patients in compliance with payer requirements.
  • Handle telephone duties, including answering inquiries, routing calls, and managing messages.
  • Perform patient check-in and/or check-out and schedule appointments as needed.
  • Support clinic workflow by coordinating patient scheduling and assisting with daily administrative tasks.
  • Serve as back-up to the Surgery Coordinator, providing assistance with surgical scheduling and related tasks when needed.
Salary Range: $26.42-37.49 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
  • 1 year of experience working in a medical office.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain records in a clear and orderly manner at the direction of physicians.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, which promote pleasant and effective communication with patients, staff and doctors.
  • Ability to clearly speak and write in English using correct grammar.
  • Sufficient computer keyboard skills to perform appointment scheduling, emailing and other related computer tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a systematic manner to maximize efficiency.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism while dealing with the stressors of operating a multi-line telephone system.
  • Ability to work multitask, and work with frequent interruptions and to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases as it applies to the eye.
  • Familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans.
  • Experience scheduling patient appointments in a computerized system.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal programs to ensure reimbursement from Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS programs and other sponsoring agencies.
