Summer Day Camp plays a vital roles in supporting working families and giving children positive, enriching experiences while school is out. As a Day Camp Counselor, you help create an environment where kids feel safe, supported, and encouraged to try new things - supporting their development in mind, body, and spirit. Your leadership and care help make each child's summer meaningful and memorable

Position Details

Position Type: Seasonal/temporary

Position Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, based on program needs and Counselor availability

Program Hours: Monday-Friday | 7:00pm-6:00pm

Pay Rate: $15.00/hour

Interview Start Date: March 16, 2026

Position Overview

Day Camp Counselors support daily camp operations by supervising children, leading age-appropriate activities, maintaining safety, and building positive relationships with campers and families. Counselors work as part of a collaborative Youth team, following established protocols and lesson plans while bringing enthusiasm and creativity to each day.

What You'll Do



  • Maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for all campers
  • Follow all Quincy Kroc Center and Youth policies and procedures
  • Facilitate camp check-in and check-out, conduct head counts, and maintain accurate attendance records
  • Supervise children during activities, free play, transitions, and field trips
  • Lead developmentally appropriate games, lessons, and activities using provided training and lesson plans
  • Accompany children to and from on-site and off-site activities using approved transportation procedures
  • Assist with preparing and serving snacks, meals, and refreshments
  • Communicate with Youth leadership regarding behavior concerns, parent requests, or special needs
  • Communicate with parents and guardians about daily activities and camper progress
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and tidying activity spaces


Optional Driving Responsibilities: Staff over 21 or older who meet eligibility requirements may assist with student transportation for school pick-ups. Counselors who take on driving duties receive an additional driver pay differential for time spent performing those responsibilities.

What We're Looking For



  • Must be 18 years of age or older to meet childcare licensing requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a camp, classroom, gymnasium, youth program, leadership, or athletic setting is helpful
  • Genuine interest in working with children and supporting their growth and development
  • Positive, patience, and enthusiastic approach to working with children
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to children's needs and unexpected situations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with children, families, and coworkers
  • Commitment to safety, professionalism, and positive youth development


Physical & Working Conditions



  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods throughout the day
  • Regular bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and active participation in games and activities
  • Ability to lift and carry program supplies or equipment (up to 25lbs)
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors, including gym, classroom, playground, and field trip environments
