The Strategy team is at the center, leading this transformation by defining Suffolk's enterprise strategy and designing the path to get there. The Strategy Manager will play a pivotal role by collaborating with senior leadership to unlock market and operational insights, define corporate and business unit strategies, and drive implementation throughout the company. The Strategy team is made up of former MBB consultants, with the role reporting to a former BCG Project Leader.



Responsibilities

    Collaborate with senior leaders across the company to identify, prioritize, and solve key strategic challenges:
  • Define project scope, construct project workplans, execute defect-free analysis, and generate corresponding actionable recommendations
  • Communicate with critical stakeholders to generate 'buy-in' and partnership in solution creation and implementation
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to convey complex ideas, drive project plans, and moderate discussion and debate with increasing independence
  • Prepare executive level presentations summarizing findings and recommending actions
  • Guide the implementation of strategic projects including implementation planning, milestone and metric-setting, and on-going tracking
  • Leverage market research and strategic frameworks to create strategic plans for Suffolk enterprise and individual regions/business units, including support of annual and 5-year planning processes
  • Support the business planning and process development of internal start-ups and new verticals within the Suffolk enterprise
  • Analyze new market opportunities within and outside the core business and develop business plans to assess growth potential and go-to-market strategy
  • Provide thought partnership to Strategy department peers and leadership to progress and implement initiatives tied to overall Enterprise strategy
  • Develop corresponding organizational, operating, and financial models to enable implementation of strategic decisions
  • 'Manage up' by appropriately engaging team and company leadership on critical findings or decision points, while acting as a collaborative partner and mentor to colleagues across the Enterprise


Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of pre-MBA strategy consulting experience
  • 1-2 years within construction, manufacturing, or adjacent industry preferred, but not required
  • Strong problem-solving skills including using a hypothesis-driven approach to define and deconstruct problems, structure appropriate quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses, and identify implications and "so what's" of data and analysis
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize and drive multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong financial and Excel modeling skills; experience in Tableau and Alteryx preferred, but not required
  • Commitment to leveraging Artificial Intelligence whenever possible to increase the efficiencies, speed, and quality of work product
  • Ability to formulate and deliver complex information to senior management in a concise and clear way, in both written and oral presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities with demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of individuals at all levels of the company
  • Enthusiasm for construction industry, Suffolk, and the enterprise's long-term strategy / vision
  • Willingness to get hands dirty and do whatever it takes to ensure success
  • Experience within construction, manufacturing, or adjacent industry preferred, but not required

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.

Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position (Manager, Strategy) in US-MA-Boston is between $133,000 and $186,000 USD. This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk's total compensation package. Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy. Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
