Overview

Placement Type:

Temporary

Salary:

$33.90-37.33 Hourly

Start Date:

Mar 2, 2026

Hours: Part-Time, up to 20 hrs/week

This is a part-time role, up to 20 hours per week. Part-time contract, 15-20 hours per week. Daytime availability required. This role is not designed to be worked around a full-time job.

About the Role

We're looking for a creative, concept-driven Assistant Designer to support the product design team for a well-known national pet brand's private label toy line - think stuffed animals, plush, and dog toys. This role is primarily creative - we need someone who can generate fresh product ideas and bring concepts to life - with secondary support in technical execution.

This is a part-time contract role and is best suited for someone who has dedicated daytime availability and isn't looking to fit this around a full-time job.

What You'll Do

  • Generate new product concepts for pet toys and soft goods
  • Translate concepts and creative direction into 2D sketches and production-ready tech packs
  • Specify materials, fabrication details, and Pantone colorways
  • Collaborate closely with the lead designer to support the full product development process
  • Maintain organized design assets and documentation

What You Bring

  • A strong creative portfolio showcasing product concepting - this is the most important thing
  • Background in toy design, plush/soft goods, or 3D product design strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for 2D sketching and flat creation
  • Experience building tech packs with materials specs, Pantones, and fabrication details
  • Ability to visualize products in 3D across multiple angles
  • Daytime availability with flexibility for morning meetings (Pacific timezone candidates coordinating with an East Coast team)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with pet, toy, or lifestyle product categories
  • Knowledge of soft goods materials and fabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with seasonal product development calendars
