Cost Analyst II

Building on our past. Ready for the future.

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Play an integral role in delivering predictable project outcomes by providing accurate, timely, and insightful cost analysis across complex projects. As a Cost Analyst II, you will be responsible for ensuring cost transparency, strengthening financial controls, and enabling informed decision-making that keeps projects aligned with scope, schedule, and budget.

You join a collaborative project environment where your expertise directly influences performance, risk mitigation, and client confidence.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining comprehensive project cost reports, ensuring overall accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. You coordinate cost analysis activities across one or more projects and serve as a trusted partner to project management on all matters relating to cost control.

You evaluate cost escalation, contingencies, and forecast trends while proactively identifying risks and recommending practical, data-driven solutions. Your work supports strong governance and enables project teams to deliver safely, responsibly, and profitably.

Core Responsibilities

You will:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate project cost reports, ensuring alignment with project controls standards and client requirements
  • Coordinate cost control and analysis activities across multiple project scopes
  • Monitor budgets, commitments, actual expenditures, accruals, and forecasts
  • Develop and maintain cost forecasts, including evaluation of cost escalation and contingency requirements
  • Conduct variance analysis and clearly communicate trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Liaise closely with project managers and discipline leads to provide financial insights and recommendations
  • Make periodic site visits to review cost reporting processes and validate data integrity
  • Support proposal preparation, including cost inputs and financial evaluations
  • Assist in improving systems, processes, and reporting tools while troubleshooting cost control challenges
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members when assigned

You operate with minimal supervision, planning and executing your work independently while managing varied and complex tasks. You identify issues early, assess impact, and recommend pragmatic solutions.

  • Full proficiency in cost control methodologies, forecasting techniques, and variance analysis
  • Experience preparing and reviewing detailed cost reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Strong working knowledge of cost control systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to assist others and resolve technical issues
  • The ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, actionable insights
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills when working under minimal supervision
  • Confidence in communicating ideas and influencing stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams
  • The ability to prioritize effectively in dynamic project environments

You are analytical yet collaborative. You balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking. You bring integrity, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset to every assignment.
