SUBCONTRACTS MANAGER

Building on our past. Ready for the future.
Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

At Worley, subcontracting is more than a commercial function - it is a strategic lever for delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable project outcomes. As a Subcontracts Manager, you are at the center of that impact.

Play an integral role in shaping how we engage, manage, and partner with subcontractors to deliver complex projects across the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. You will be responsible for leading subcontract strategy and execution while ensuring operational excellence, commercial integrity, and alignment with our sustainability objectives.

Purpose of the role

As a Subcontracts Manager at Worley, you will play a key role in our mission to deliver sustainable change. You will be responsible for overseeing subcontracting activities to ensure that projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

This role focuses on identifying and assessing subcontractors, negotiating agreements, managing contractual obligations, and ensuring that all subcontracted work aligns with Worley's sustainability commitments and performance expectations. You will bring commercial insight, practical risk management, and collaborative leadership to every phase of the subcontract lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Subcontractor Identification & Prequalification - Identifying and evaluating subcontractors based on project requirements, technical expertise, financial stability, safety performance, past results, and alignment with Worley's sustainability and operational standards.
  • Negotiation & Commercial Strategy - Leading contract negotiations covering pricing, scope, deliverables, schedules, and commercial terms to ensure balanced risk allocation and alignment with project objectives.
  • Contract Development - Collaborating with legal, procurement, and project teams to draft, review, and finalize subcontract agreements that comply with regulatory, contractual, and corporate requirements.
  • Risk Management - Proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with subcontracted work and implementing measures that protect safety, cost, schedule, and quality performance.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting - Establishing KPIs and tracking mechanisms to ensure subcontractors meet project milestones, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. Maintaining clear and accurate reporting on subcontractor performance and compliance.
  • Issue Resolution - Managing disputes and performance challenges pragmatically and professionally, ensuring minimal disruption to project delivery.
  • Change Management - Overseeing scope, schedule, and budget changes with disciplined documentation and transparent stakeholder communication.
  • Documentation & Governance - Maintaining comprehensive records of agreements, approvals, correspondence, and contractual documentation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, finance, and HSSE professionals to integrate subcontracted work seamlessly into overall project plans.
  • Continuous Improvement - Identifying opportunities to enhance subcontracting processes, tools, and controls to improve efficiency, transparency, and outcomes.
  • People Leadership - Leading and mentoring a team of subcontract professionals, providing clear direction, guidance, and accountability while serving as the primary subcontract contact on assigned projects.
