AI Subject Matter Expert/Integrator - Functional Lead

Kratos is expanding its advanced radar and defense systems capabilities in Indiana and is seeking an experienced AI Subject Matter Expert / Integrator to serve as a Functional Lead supporting next-generation radar sustainment, test modernization, and digital engineering initiatives.

This leader will drive the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies into mission-critical defense programs, including advanced radar systems, depot-level sustainment environments, and digital engineering ecosystems. The role requires both technical depth and the ability to lead cross-functional teams across systems engineering, test, software, logistics, and operations.

This is a high-visibility role supporting strategic growth initiatives aligned with Navy and DoD modernization priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Functional Lead for AI/ML integration across radar sustainment, test equipment development, and digital engineering environments.
• Architect and implement AI-enabled solutions for general operations, predictive maintenance, failure analytics, document ingestion, configuration analysis, and test optimization.
• Lead integration of AI tools into MBSE, digital thread, and lifecycle management environments.
• Develop data strategies that enable reliable model training, validation, and deployment within classified and controlled environments.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, test engineering, and logistics teams to translate operational problems into AI-driven solutions.
• Establish governance frameworks for AI model validation, cybersecurity compliance, and configuration control.
• Interface with government stakeholders, OEM partners, and internal leadership on technical direction and execution status.
• Mentor engineers and analysts in applied AI methods relevant to radar and RF systems.

Required Qualifications

• 4 year degree or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI into operational systems rather than purely research environments.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and complex system integration.
• Experience working in secure DoD environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Experience

• Experience implementing AI/ML solutions for engineering or depot environments
• Experience/knowledge of multiple Large Language Models and applied use on defense related products.
• Experience with OCR and other text recognition activities.
