POSITION SUMMARY Are you a creative storyteller? Do you want to collaborate with a multimedia team to break down the latest in science, research and news from around the UC system? The Marketing Communications team at the University of California's systemwide headquarters is looking for a student with an interest in storytelling and science communication to create original video content for our social media channels - specifically our research video channel on YouTube, Fig. 1 (youtube.com/fig1) and the university's Instagram and TikTok channels. This is a paid internship for the summer (and possibly beyond). We're looking for a person who thinks of social media as a powerful journalistic tool and is excited about making complex research engaging for the general public - with a comfort or eagerness to work in video and record voiceover for social media video content. Reporting to the Director of Multimedia, the role will work and collaborate with the multimedia team, giving feedback on scripts and recording/editing video content - and assisting video editors in collecting footage, research, and making our channel accessible for all audiences. The Video Intern will get valuable, hands-on job experience using industry-leading software while playing a significant role in a large brand's social media strategy and making connections across the UC system. Current journalism, communications, film/video, marketing or theater students are welcome. Location: Oakland (Hybrid) Hours: 40 hours/week during the summer Responsibilities Research and Planning - 30%

SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary: $19.96 - $24.95 hourly, commensurate with experience.
