| Job Description Summary: |
Dr. Jordan Kuiper is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with expertise in environmental epidemiology for a funded position at The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. There are multiple, exciting research opportunities within the Kuiper lab, which has two primary focus areas (which often intersect): understanding the sources and health impacts of chemical exposures as well as the impacts of climate change and heat; and, protecting and improving the health of children, our most vulnerable population.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong quantitative skills and have experience working with large, complex datasets as well as an ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative team. Candidates will be mentored by Dr. Kuiper, though the Milken Institute School of Public Health and its location in the nation's capital affords ample opportunities for further connections and advancement of the candidate towards becoming an independent researcher. The candidate will be supported by an inclusive research environment, and professional development goals will be discussed and fostered throughout the postdoctoral period.
The primary activities of the position include:
* Conducting methodologically rigorous quantitative analyses
* Participating in team meetings
* Research coordination
* Writing research abstracts for presentation at national and international conferences
* Preparing scientific articles and submitting to peer-reviewed journals
* Identifying and pursuing additional research projects and research funding

| Minimum Qualifications |
Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment. |

GIS and mapping (I), toxicology (I), and risk assessment (I)
* Advanced proficiency in at least one statistical software (e.g., R, Stata,
SAS, Mplus) and desire and ability to learn additional software as needed (note: Dr. Kuiper regularly uses R, Stata, and Mplus simultaneously for projects) |
