Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Mechanical Lathe Master Tech for our Camden Plywood facility! We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction like subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork. This role will focus on the operations and maintenance of the lathe while leading Lathe Techs in the Green Veneer Department.

Starting Rate:

* Starting pay is commensurate with experience.

* $1.50 per hour Shift Differential

What You Will Do

* Provide leadership among the Asian lathe Green End team members to drive continuous improvement in safety, environmental compliance, quality, production, reliability, team development and value creation. Ensure that down day tasks are completed ensuring quality, precision repairs are made.

* Evaluate, help develop and provide feedback to leadership on performance to the member of the Asian lathe team.

* Provide performance feedback on Asian Lathe Team Members in SBO form to Green End leadership.

* Identify and work with leadership to schedule cross training for members of the Asian team.

* Provide assistance as needed in other areas of the equipment, processes and resources to improve through put, reliability and create long-term value.

* Participate in the creation and follow up on corrective actions that are created from Asian Lathe RCA's

* Provide quality maintenance and PM services to lower maintenance costs and decrease production losses while maximizing throughput and improving environmental, health and safety performance.

* Seek and share knowledge with others to assist with equipment installations or modifications and to improve the Green End lathe production process.

* Utilize Activplant data to track uptimes and efficiencies of each Asian lathe and Operators.

* Ability to work any hours, to include a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Two years of maintenance experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment

* Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLC's, A/C and D/C motors, motor controllers and drives

* Experience diagnosing mechanical and electronic systems using scanning and diagnostic tools, multimeters, and computers.

* Repairing and maintaining plant machinery in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer specifications.

* Basic understanding of Servo motors

* Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems

* Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to learn and troubleshoot issues.

What Will Put You Ahead

* 5+ years of lathe experience

* Experience with lathe rebuilds

* Leadership experience

* Able to perform mechanical alignment and electronic calibration

* 1+years of controls experience

* Experience with planning and scheduling maintenance

Physical Requirements:

  • Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high to perform daily duties
  • Work in a non-climate-controlled mill, with dust, noise and temperatures that can be higher in the summer and lower in the winter
  • Perform tasks such as lifting (50lbs), walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day
