Department Overview

Enterprise Support Services function is to provide complete operations and maintenance service support so that our physical facilities (buildings, equipment, machinery, systems and grounds) may operate at an optimum. Optimization of our facilities will promote and ensure safe, clean, and compatible working conditions for employees. Enterprise Support Services activities include building maintenance and repair, office space planning and associated move coordination, leasing administration (building/property), construction project management and Physical Security. This area also assists with corporate office moves, reconfiguration projects for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and affiliate companies.

Primary Responsibilities

This incumbent is accountable for performing courier services for the Company to include both scheduled recurring and unscheduled non-recurring courier runs. The incumbent is to ensure the daily transport of sensitive materials to and from the banks, corporate partners, vendors, and specially requested runs for select corporate work groups (Executive, Legal, Associate Services, etc.). All services are handled in a timely and confidential manner and must adhere to a corporate standard for efficiency. This standard may require, at management discretion, the incumbent coming in early or staying late to accommodate delivery requirements to cover a business need. Local bank requests include the responsibility of handling large deposits and securing deposit receipts. The Courier is also responsible for proper delivery of customer documents collected at the 420 building for the Customer Service department. Assignments include timely pick-up and delivery of time-sensitive and highly confidential information for the Legal and Subrogation departments. The associate is required, on a routine basis, to assist with courier services for offsite locations away from the main campus. The incumbent will support the Incoming Mail team with the receipt, sorting and internal disbursement and delivery of incoming mail and packages. The incumbent may also support the Stock Distribution Clerk as needed. The incumbent works according to the direction and at the discretion of Enterprise Support Services (ESS) management. This position is considered an essential position due to the nature of the work which must be completed on-site.

Summary of Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience collaborating on work across multiple lines of business activities
  • Experience easily adapting to changes in work environment
  • Experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in a production environment to meet deadlines
  • Valid Alabama driver's license, including a driving record clear of offenses
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis and at a productive rate
  • Working knowledge of how to use a global positioning system (GPS) device and how to read road maps
  • Previous Courier experience preferred
Work Location

The work schedule for this position will be full-time onsite.
