The Quality Control Coordinator performs all mortgage quality control and selected compliance reviews which includes the sampling and verification of standard underwriting components for mortgage loans and selected appraisal/evaluation reviews. The Quality Control Coordinator reports the findings to lending management, with secondary reporting to the appropriate risk committees. Also, ensures that the quality control program is followed in a professional and timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all mortgage quality control and selected compliance reviews.
  • Selects and obtains loan files (images system) for review based upon established criteria and prepares quality control review forms for each transaction.
  • Prepares, sends, and tracks needed verifications. Requests and reviews credit reports and review appraisals for validity/consistency.
  • Ensures that the bank's approved quality control program is followed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assists with the maintenance and updating of mortgage compliance manuals and provides information to mortgage company personnel as needed.
  • Ensures that all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence, and/or journals or government regulations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and/or legal documents.
  • Ability to write procedures.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.

Education and/or Experience

  • HS Diploma/GED and
  • One to two years of mortgage-related experience.

Computer Skills

  • MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Other Qualifications (including physical requirements)

  • Must have mortgage loan underwriting skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of RESPA and Reg. Z/TIL.
