This position is based in Massachusetts and requires a presence on-site, and open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Essential Functions Subject Matter Expertise for HVAC and Mechanical Systems: * Leads operation and lifecycle management of chillers, boilers, AHUs/RTUs, humidification/dehumidification equipment, VAV systems, exhaust/containment, CRAC/CRAH units, and hydronic systems. Familiarity with other piping trades, and electrical power-controls also a plus. * Responsible for managing outsourced HVAC maintenance firms. Develops preventive and predictive maintenance programs supporting high-availability manufacturing and continuous R&D operations. * Performs advanced troubleshooting, commissioning, airflow balancing, PID tuning, and control optimization. * Supports GMP Manufacturing HVAC controls and alarming: Maintains air classifications (ISO grades), pressure cascades, temperature/humidity control, and recovery times in commercial production areas. * R&D / Clinical Integration Support: Supports laboratory HVAC needs including fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, specialty exhaust, and room pressurization strategies. Familiarity with Radiological processing and controls is a plus. Building Management Systems Management: * Administers and optimizes the Johnson Controls Metasys (JCI) platform including sequences of operation, alarming, trending, graphics, and system performance analytics. Maintains BMS backups, access management, and cybersecurity practices. * Implements control logic improvements, scheduling, energy optimization, and root-cause diagnostics. Integrates new sensors, devices, and equipment control panels. Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS-Vaisala) Ownership * Leads implementation, configuration, calibration, and continuous operation of Vaisala viewLinc. Along with the Validation team, conducts mapping and qualification of GMP critical storage and R&D laboratory units. * Maintains alarm response procedures and escalation pathways. Ensures ALCOA+ data integrity and support deviations/CAPAs as required. Facilities Support for GMP Manufacturing, R&D Labs * Ensure infrastructure supports uninterrupted commercial production. Support shutdowns, startup, and downtime planning. * Participates as Facilities SME in regulatory inspections. * Manages lab infrastructure including gases, DI water, cold storage, and safety devices. Maintains critical utilities supporting manufacturing and labs. Projects, Upgrades & Commissioning * Plan and deliver facility projects and commissioning. Manage contractors and turnover documentation. Basic Qualifications * This position is site-based in MA and requires a presence on-site daily. Weekend work required to support 24/7 manufacturing operations or shutdown-related maintenance is also required from time to time. * BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred. * 10+ years of experience in the facilities maintenance and operations in GMP environment required. * Prior experience in leading and managing interdisciplinary or cross-functional pharmaceutical or biotech teams is required. * Strong knowledge of code compliance, license requirements and best practices for means and methods around owner-side maintenance and system upgrades. * Understanding of FDA and/or EMA quality and regulatory processes. Prior experience with regulatory filings is highly desired. Other Requirements * This individual should be a self-starter with strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and technical skills, with the capability to work both independently and in a team environment. Strong analytical and communications skills are critical. * Previous experience working with aseptically filled drug products, clean rooms, radiopharmaceuticals and CMOs strongly preferred. * Project management experience is necessary to ensure plans are developed to mitigate technical and logistical issues, to keep programs on their agreed upon timelines. * Ability to function autonomously, with an appreciation of detail while being cognizant of "the big picture. The pay range for this position is between $139,000 and $232,000 annually. Actual base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Employees in this position are eligible for a discretionary performance-based cash incentive, and depending on the level of the role may be eligible for a discretionary annual equity award. Benefits for this position include a comprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage.
