A construction partner resource for leading developer clients of multi-state, repetitive retail construction developments throughout the Midwest and beyond. Whether the project is a new ground up 200,000 sf store, a 70,000 sf store conversion to a multi-tenant development or a 5,000 sf interior remodel, we have the historic data, experience and personnel to proactively analyze, manage and deliver all types of retail stores in the most cost effective and timely manner in compliance with the developer's obligations to their retail tenants.


POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking both Local and Traveling Commercial/Retail Construction Superintendents to support the growth we are experiencing among our client base. The ideal candidate takes initiative and is self-motivated, reliable, organized, innovative, resourceful and have excellent attention to detail and quality. Strengths as a planner, coordinator, problem solver, communicator, negotiator, motivator, manager, leader and team builder are all key toward being a leading Retail Superintendent.

The Retail Superintendent is responsible utilizing their expertise in planning, managing and leading the entire construction team on a daily basis to deliver their projects within the established safety, timeliness and budgetary goals to the satisfaction of our clients. Successfully managing all of these responsibilities is key toward achieving the goals of our company and its clients.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops short term and long term schedules and gains commitments from subcontractors and suppliers to achieve mutual goals.

Manages all day-to-day construction activities from mobilization through punch list completion in an efficient and productive manner including, but not limited to:




  • Scheduling of subcontractors and suppliers



  • Scheduling of delivery of equipment and materials



  • Coordination of all needed inspections



  • Acquisition of occupancy permits



  • Preparation and completion of punch lists within 2 weeks of punch walk



  • Daily interaction with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Architects, Engineers, Clients and Client's Tenants



  • Studies and understands all plans, specifications and contracts to allow efficient and timely coordination of work and proactive problem solving



  • Monitor and verify subcontractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and standard industry practices for a high quality project



  • Coordinates all required testing and inspections



  • Conducts and documents weekly job meetings with subcontractors on site or planned to be on site prior to the next meeting



  • Conduct pre-installation meetings with contractors for critical systems such as facade details, window systems, MEP coordination, etc.



  • Manages cost control of General Conditions expenses



  • Control the day-to-day decision-making regarding project sequencing utilizing a 3 week look ahead



  • Prepares project specific site staging plan



  • Conduct and document subcontractor orientation meetings prior to their commencement of work



  • Maintains the record set of as-built drawings and coordinates completion of all close-out documents



  • Prepares and manages a project specific safety plan and manage implementation of the company safety program



  • Preparation of detailed weekly paperwork including daily reports, weekly reports, weekly safety toolbox talks, weekly safety inspections, 3 week look ahead schedules, weekly expense reports, daily and weekly photos, etc.



  • Prepare RFIs and submit for issues requiring clarification and coordinate with the PM and PC



  • Maintain a rolling punch list and manage timely completion on a weekly basis



  • Coordinate transfer of all utilities to the appropriate parties



  • Attend and participate in quarterly company meetings when scheduled



  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgement



  • Maintains professionalism with all parties while performing its duties



  • Other duties as required or assigned




QUALIFICATIONS


  • Valid driver's license



  • High School Diploma; Junior college or construction education preferred



  • Construction Superintendent: 5+ years' experience



  • Retail Construction, Multi-tenant Commercial/Residential and Self-storage facilities experience: 5+ years' preferred



  • OSHA 10 hour certification



  • Current FA/CPR certification



  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Word & Excel, Microsoft Project



  • Experienced in working with smart phones, tablets and laptops



  • Excellent time manager with the ability to multi-task



  • Demonstrate superior retail plan and specification reading and comprehension



  • Strong team builder capable of motivating subcontractors and suppliers to achieve a common goal



  • Experienced in working in occupied facilities/developments




Salary: From $90,000 per year
