What does a Construction Manager do at Swire Coca-Cola? The Construction Manager is responsible for leading and supporting construction projects of varying size and complexity from initial concept through final closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while meeting Swire's strategic objectives, operational requirements, and design standards. The Construction Manager partners closely with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and municipal authorities to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable facilities while representing Swire as a trusted and valued community partner.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or support construction projects (depending on project size) through all phases, including design development, board approval, contractor selection, bidding, construction, and project closeout
- Review and manage project documentation such as contracts, pay applications, schedules, design documents, permit applications, submittals, RFIs, and lien releases to ensure alignment with Swire's strategic goals and objectives
- Conduct detailed design reviews for projects ranging from $2M-$300M to ensure compliance with Swire standards, manufacturing requirements, and operational needs
- Manage project financials, including vendor setup, purchase order issuance, invoice review, budget tracking, contingency management, and proactive prevention of cost overruns
- Lead the ongoing development, refinement, and implementation of Swire's design and construction standards
- Support the design and construction of cost-effective, environmentally responsible facilities and infrastructure
- Assist with managing relationships with local municipalities and governing agencies; oversee design reviews, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance to secure certificates of occupancy. Ensure Swire is viewed as a valued and collaborative partner in each community where projects are executed
- Support real estate searches, acquisitions, and lease negotiations
- Collaborate with and support internal end users and cross-functional partners throughout the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture or related field required
- 6+ years on site construction experience required and
- 2+ years' Experience as a project manager or assistant project manager overseeing commercial/industrial construction (food processing preferred) required
- Experience representing an owner preferred
- Experience managing the planning and design process preferred
- Experience working across different geographical areas and multiple sites preferred
- Strategic thinking and ability to see the "big picture"
