Job Description

The CDL Driver/Material Handler supports warehouse operations by safely moving trailers, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining an efficient workflow. Key duties include operating tractortrailers and docks, performing receiving tasks, and following all company safety, GMP, and HACCP policies. The role requires a valid Class A CDL and completion of DOTrequired inspections, along with daily equipment safety checks and prompt reporting of any issues.

This position requires strong problemsolving abilities, basic math and language skills, and the ability to operate forklifts and materialhandling equipment. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with two years of CDL driving experience. The role involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and working around moving machinery while wearing required PPE. Work occurs in warehouse and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, weather conditions, and shifting priorities.

Accountabilities:

  • Safe Vehicle Operation: Responsible for safely operating tractor/trailer equipment, performing daily safety inspections, completing DOTrequired documentation, and reporting mechanical or safety issues promptly.
  • Efficient Trailer and Material Movement: Accountable for moving trailers in the yard and at docks, loading and unloading trailers, and maintaining an organized workflow to support warehouse operations.
  • Receiving and Material Handling: Ensures accurate receiving of raw materials and performs picking, dock, and receiving responsibilities while operating forklifts and materialhandling equipment safely.
  • Compliance With Safety, GMP, and HACCP Policies: Adheres to all company safety standards, uses required PPE, and maintains high awareness when working around moving machinery or electrical equipment.
  • Documentation and Communication: Completes necessary reports, inspections, and routine written communication accurately and clearly; communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must Have a valid Class A CDL
  • Preferably two years of CDL driving experience.

    • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

    • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.

  • Physical Demands:
    • Requires working around moving machinery and electricity with a high level of safety awareness.
    • Must be able to wear required PPE at all times.
    • May lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
    • May reach, climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, or twist up to onethird of the shift.
  • Work Environment:
    • Work is performed in a production environment with continuous machine operation and fastpaced workflow.
    • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors, including exposure to heat, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.
    • Requires use of hearing, hand, eye, and toe protection.
  • Stress Factors:
    • Fastpaced production environment with continuous workflow demands and expectations to meet daily production targets.
    • Long periods of standing and repetitive motion, contributing to physical fatigue.
    • Frequent lifting requirements, including repetitive lifting of 25-40 lbs and occasional assisted lifts up to 50 lbs, which may create physical strain.
    • 12hour shifts, which can contribute to mental and physical fatigue.
    • Potential for equipment issues or quality deviations, requiring quick communication and rapid response to maintain production flow.
    • Environmental pressures, such as working on concrete floors and around manufacturing equipment.
    • Flexibility demands, including required overtime, night shifts, and weekend work, which may affect work-life balance.
    • Need for sustained attention to quality and safety, creating cognitive pressure throughout the shift.
