Staff Job Summary

The Planning and Experience Specialist, Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for developing and executing creative design components for planning sessions and projects. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member, understand design principles and trends, and have a track record of success in strategic planning session design and facilitation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to distill complex information, planning outcomes, and stakeholder input into clear, digestible visuals and narratives.

  • Ability to translate planning inputs, trends, and outcomes into compelling visual and narrative storytelling formats.

  • Proven experience in designing compelling creative products.

  • Understanding of marketing principles, strategies, and tactics, with expertise in digital marketing, and communications.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate planning sessions and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and work with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to execute, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent writing skills with specific attention to detail and demonstrated experience drafting polished and professional visuals, planning designs, and communication.

  • Initiative-taker who applies creative thinking to develop solutions based on new methods and technologies.

  • Strong on relationship and consensus building, influencing skills and working with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Strong skills in Canva, Adobe Lightroom, MS PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to coach and motivate team members and establish performance objectives.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated success working with diverse communities.

  • Demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Excellent team player with a willingness to assist team members as needed.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree or equivalent experience in marketing, design, advertising, or related field. Official transcripts will be required.

  • One (1) year of experience in marketing, design, advertising, or a related area.

  • Demonstrated experience in time management and project management.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills.

  • High level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive employee information.

  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred

Key Responsibilities
  • Produces clear, compelling reports and presentations.

  • Enhances data-informed storytelling through visuals and narrative clarity.

  • Supports planning sessions through synthesis and documentation.

  • Use appropriate processes both for capturing planning discussions and synthesizing key themes and action items including AI enabled tools.

  • Produces compelling visuals, adhere to project timelines, and play a critical role in elevating the Strategic Initiatives and Dallas College vision.

  • Plans, executes and oversees the successful completion of various projects within the division by defining project objectives and create detailed project plans to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.

  • Builds and maintains strong, positive relationships with internal clients.

  • Stays current with industry trends and best practices in creative design and proactively recommend innovative solutions to enhance the team's strategies.

  • Supports planning sessions that are designed to meet the needs of the increasingly diverse college community.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
