Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Manager for the The Rutgers Center for State Health Policy (Center/ CSHP) within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research ( IFH). This position requires advanced research, community engagement and project coordination skills and will support the Center's broad health services research portfolio. The Research Project Manager will be given the opportunity to participate in policy meetings with senior state officials, as appropriate, and will be introduced to a broad array of health policy stakeholders in New Jersey. The Research Project Manager will oversee community-engaged and community-partnered activities across projects.

The Research Project Manager is expected to provide ongoing support and engagement across projects, working directly with the Director to ensure funding for their role and team members. This includes developing projections for future project activity and identifying anticipated revenue sources. The development of new initiatives, including hubs of resources and consultative support contracts, as well as interfacing with experts in the field across topics are essential for the Research Project Manager to link CSHP activities to opportunities for impact and funding. The position requires high-level skills in statistical analysis, as well as expertise in research methodology and community participatory research. The position has extensive scope for independent judgment in assuming responsibility for high level professional work including project management, scope for independent exercise of judgment, and high-level statistical analysis.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Leads planning for engagement with key stakeholder communities, including autistic individuals, across research and community-based projects.
  • Identifies partners, creates new and maintains existing relationships, and fosters communication in those relationships that focuses on achieving community impact.
  • Contributes to the scientific and academic impact of CSHP autism related initiatives by organizing and managing stakeholder engagement and leading and contributing to funding applications and academic manuscripts and publications.
  • Identifies and pursues training activities to maximize exposure to opportunities for CSHP to interface with local and wider communities.
  • Drafts analytic sections of grant applications including measures and statistical analysis plans, timetables and Gantt charts.
  • Provides project management to assure timely completion of project and paper timelines, keeping other project team members informed about progress of analyses and results; and is primary or secondary author for refereed publications of original, high-quality scholarship.
  • Presents papers at organized scholarly and professional meetings usually at the national level and collaborates on development of dissemination documents to communicate research results to a range of audiences.
  • Handles significant additional contributions appropriate to the research program include generating independent research ideas in coordination with principal investigators and chair and demonstrating a high level of initiative and ability to work independently.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general research principles and practices.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional research experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in health services research, health policy, studies, economics or related social science/research field.
  • Expertise in Medicaid policy and program operations.
  • Experienced in the use of Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance claims data, electronic medical record data) and data linkages of very large datasets.
  • Experience with large database management
  • Experience developing and writing funding proposals.
  • Experience in drafting dissemination products for a variety of audiences, including scientific peers, health.
  • Knowledge of health services research methods applied to behavioral health studies.
