Position Overview

Rite-Hite is seeking a first-year law student (1L) to join our Legal Department as a paid Summer Law Clerk. This position will offer a broad, hands-on experience supporting a collaborative in-house legal team within a global manufacturing company.

The Summer Law Clerk will work directly with attorneys, legal professionals, and business colleagues across multiple disciplines, including corporate law, commercial contracting, HR, litigation, intellectual property, compliance, and policy governance. This role provides meaningful exposure to the practical business application of law and an opportunity to contribute to real projects that impact the organization.

Responsibilities

The Summer Law Clerk will support various members of the Legal Department and may assist with:

  • Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on corporate, regulatory, commercial, and employment-related issues
  • Assisting with review and analysis of commercial agreements (buy-side and sell-side contracts)
  • Supporting compliance initiatives, including policy development and training materials
  • Supporting litigation and dispute management, including document review and case summaries
  • Conducting regulatory research related to business-related matters
  • Preparing presentations, summaries, and briefing materials for internal stakeholders
  • Supporting due diligence efforts related to strategic initiatives and potential acquisitions
  • Assignments will be substantive and varied, offering insight into how a modern in-house legal department operates.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a first-year (1L) student at Marquette Law School.
  • Strong academic performance
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Interest in corporate, commercial, compliance, or in-house practice
