The Employee Benefits (EB) Consulting Practice offers retirement and health consulting services to our clients. We are seeking a Pharmacy Consultant to support employer health and welfare employee benefits programs. In this role you will manage the client pharmacy projects, oversee the consulting team, and ensure high-quality project delivery within set timelines and budgets. You will oversee staffing and skill development while supporting growth and expansion of consulting services. You will contribute to client strategy, service offerings, and profitability. You will lead team activities and represent the organization at industry events. You will be responsible for consulting clients on pharmacy projects. The position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and broad industry knowledge.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will manage client pharmacy consulting and projects and oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy consulting team, ensuring quality project delivery and staff development in pharmacy knowledge. You will contribute to client strategies, manage Request for Proposals (RFPs) and market checks, and provide consulting support on pharmacy issues.



  • Manage the daily operations of the pharmacy consulting team.
  • Lead Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) RFPs, and market checks.
  • Manage client pharmacy reporting and provide updates on market and legislative impacts.
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget compliance.
  • Support the development, growth, and improvement of consulting services.
  • Coordinate project staffing, skill development, and retention of staff.
  • Contribute to client strategy and service offerings.
  • Participate in new business proposal development and client presentations as needed.
  • Assure compliance with the firm and practice quality standards and other applicable policies


What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced leader with strong project management skills and a background in pharmacy consulting or a related field. The ideal candidate will excel at client relationship management and achieving business goals. Excellent communication, organizational abilities, and knowledge of industry best practices are essential. A relevant degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

Professional Qualifications



  • Proven leadership experience in pharmacy consulting or a related field (employer health and welfare experience preferred).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple teams and projects.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in pharmacy consulting.
  • Experience with client relationship management and business development.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, healthcare, business, or a related discipline (advanced degree or actuarial credentials preferred).
  • 9+ years of pharmacy or pharmacy analytics experience.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic proficiency using Microsoft Word and Power Point.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of service.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.


Competencies and Behaviors that Support Success in this Role



  • 9+ years working experience, preferably at a consulting firm, PBM, managed care organization, health plan, or pharmaceutical company.
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and/or commercial payers.
  • Experience solving complex problems with innovative, creative solutions.
  • Experience working with large pharmacy claims data sets.
  • Experience designing and optimizing pharmacy benefits, including analyzing the impact of discounts, rebates, and program changes (e.g., formularies, networks, clinical programs).
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy purchasing and reimbursement environment including pharmacy cost metrics such as average wholesale price, wholesale acquisition costs, average sales price, actual acquisition costs, and rebates.
  • Strong sense of accountability and business acumen.

By collaborating closely with our clients, we help them navigate complex benefit challenges, optimize plan design, and ensure long-term financial security for their participants.

Location

This is a remote position. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in the following Milliman office locations: Little Falls, NJ, New York City, NY, Albany, NY, Chicago, IL, Boise, ID, Walnut Creek, CA or Omaha, NE. The expected application deadline for this job is April 6, 2026.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $131,600 - $249,780

For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $151,340 - $249,780
  • All other locations the salary range is $131,600 - $217,200


A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
