Job Description




As a Security Officer - Patrol (21+) in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a cultural institution location, you will monitor and patrol galleries, public areas, and exterior grounds, conducting routine rounds and remaining visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will greet visitors and staff, provide clear communication, and respond to concerns with professionalism. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of galleries, exhibit areas, offices, loading areas, and perimeter routes, noting unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy concerns and reporting findings per post orders.
  • Monitor access points and interior spaces to help maintain orderly entry, support visitor flow during peak periods and/or special events, and assist with directing individuals to approved areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disturbances, lost children, and/or suspicious activity, and document actions taken in written reports.
  • Observe alarms, cameras, and/or other systems when assigned, communicate by radio and/or phone with site representatives and Allied Universal leadership, and support incident documentation and shift turnover briefings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
