STS Engineering Solutions is hiring an Aircraft Maintenance Planner in Seattle, Washington.

This opportunity supports aircraft maintenance planning operations for commercial and private aviation customers operating under 14 CFR Part 91, 121, 125, 135, and 145 regulations. The role is structured as a 1099 contractor position with the potential to transition into a direct hire role.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Maintenance Planner is responsible for monitoring, planning, routing, and scheduling aircraft maintenance requirements to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role focuses on maximizing aircraft availability while minimizing downtime and maintenance related disruptions. The planner will work closely with operations teams, maintenance control, engineering personnel, and maintenance stations to coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure all required resources are available.


Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze and conduct scheduling and workload planning to ensure maximum efficiency and full compliance with maintenance requirements while minimizing aircraft out of service time and cost
  • Monitor, forecast, and coordinate the scheduling of maintenance requirements on aircraft
  • Provide 7 day, 30 day, 60 day, and annual maintenance forecasts for the Director of Planning and applicable management personnel
  • Create, maintain, and publish annual maintenance plans that meet operational needs while providing maximum aircraft availability
  • Respond quickly to modified planning requirements caused by additional work scope, engineering changes, or planning discrepancies
  • Utilize company computer systems to identify aircraft maintenance requirements and capable overnight maintenance stations
  • Monitor aircraft status and station operations while coordinating aircraft routing or rerouting to maintain operational efficiency
  • Coordinate day of operational changes affecting the maintenance plan and resolve conflicts between maintenance and daily flight operations
  • Provide oversight of short range maintenance planning and advise supervisors of irregularities affecting schedules
  • Balance station nightly workload and coordinate with maintenance bases to optimize scheduled maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure parts, tooling, materials, and manpower are available for scheduled work
  • Coordinate with operational control personnel for ferry or repositioning of aircraft scheduled for maintenance
  • Create, review, and execute daily work orders for maintenance bases using electronic planning systems
  • Work closely with Maintenance Operations Control and Liaison Engineering teams to track and schedule deferred maintenance items including MELs and CDLs
  • Provide daily shift turnover communication outlining critical tasks and operational considerations
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience working as an Aircraft Maintenance Planner
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods, up to 12 hours per day
  • Experience using the Maintenance and Engineering tracking system TRAX
  • Strong computer skills including web based applications, document management, and shared network systems
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Microsoft Word experience at an intermediate level or higher
  • Microsoft Excel experience at an intermediate level or higher
  • Ability and willingness to travel when required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or currently authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness to comply with Non Disclosure Agreements and confidentiality policies
  • Ability to maintain high performance standards for both quality and productivity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education degree, preferably in aviation or a related field
  • FAA Airframe and or Powerplant License
  • Previous hands on aircraft maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to aircraft maintenance programs
  • Familiarity with Original Equipment Manufacturer and Type Certificate Holder technical manuals
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat DC or equivalent software
  • Bilingual skills preferred
