What You'll Do:


The Senior Tax Accountant supports all aspects of Pelican's tax function, including the preparation and review of tax returns, tax provisions, indirect tax filings, and tax research. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while contributing to continuous improvement in reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.




  • Prepare and Review Tax Filings: Prepare and review workpapers for federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Support Tax Provisions: Assist in the preparation and review of interim and year-end tax provision workpapers to support financial statement reporting.
  • Manage Indirect Tax Filings: Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of monthly sales and use tax returns using Avalara, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Handle Tax Payments and Extensions: Prepare and review federal and state estimated income tax payments, extensions, and related documentation.
  • Respond to Tax Authorities: Assist in drafting responses to inquiries and audits from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Partner with finance, accounting, and other departments to collect and validate data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all tax-related reporting.
  • Maintain Tax Records: Perform monthly reconciliations of tax accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Conduct Research: Analyze tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential process or cost improvement opportunities.



What We're Looking For:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.


  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and researching tax issues.


  • Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and be detail oriented.


  • Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this positionis listed below. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
