Software Engineer - Intern

We're looking for a Software Development Intern with a strong interest in backend and frontend development. This role will support building internal tools, enhance UI components, and contribute to lightweight AI-assisted features. You'll work closely with engineers to design, develop, test, and document modern web applications.

What You'll Do



  • Develop and maintain backend components using Java and RESTful APIs.
  • Build and enhance UI features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
  • Write efficient queries and support data operations using SQL.
  • Assist with integrating basic AI/ML capabilities (e.g., APIs, model inference, prompt flows).
  • Create clean documentation, diagrams, and reusable templates.
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, debugging, and backlog refinement.
  • Support development of small prototypes or feature spikes.



You Have



  • Must be in a Master's degree program
  • Hands-on in Java programming and understanding of OOP fundamentals preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and exposure to Angular basics.
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries.
  • Curious mindset around AI concepts, APIs, and automation.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub and basic CI/CD concepts.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and eagerness to learn.



Nice to Have



  • Exposure with Angular components, services, and routing.
  • Exposure to Java frameworks (Spring Boot, JPA) or build tools (Maven/Gradle).
  • Understanding of REST API design and JSON handling.
  • Knowledge of AI platforms or libraries (Azure AI, TensorFlow, OpenAI APIs).



Success Metrics



  • Highquality code merged through PRs with passing tests.
  • Completion of assigned intern project or prototype.
  • Improved team efficiency through documentation or automation.
  • Positive peer feedback and demonstrated growth.

Compensation:

Hourly Rate Range - $23 - $25 USD.
