Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position are to inspect, document, and report on work performed by Matrix NAC personnel and/or Matrix NAC subcontractors as directed by the QA/QC Manager and/or their designees. This position will be located on a jobsite in Gibbstown, NJ.
Essential Functions
- Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

- Achieve and maintain familiarity with the structure and requirements of Matrix Tank Construction Quality Management System (QMS), applicable Project Quality Plans (PQP), project applicable Codes and Standards such as API Standards 620 & 650, ASME Sec. VIII, IX, B31.3, API-1104, AWS D1.1, NFPA-24, etc., and applicable Issued For Construction Drawings through personal investigation and study.
- Perform as the lead Quality Control representative on assigned projects for site implementation of the QMS and PQP.
- Work directly with the client's Quality Department and participate in scheduled weekly meetings.
- Support all ongoing Matrix NAC work efforts, work cooperatively and in support of the Construction Superintendents assigned to project, directly supervise QC/NDE personnel, act as a source of quality related information and leadership and, whenever possible, provide direct input and/or assistance for the execution of all necessary inspection and testing activities.
- Perform daily inspections and audits of materials, personnel qualifications, and workmanship and report findings to the QA/QC Manager and/or his designees.
- Organize, initiate, and perform or assist in performing assigned project QC inspections and/or observation and reporting duties on assigned project(s).
- Organize, initiate, and perform or assist in performing assigned QC audits and related reporting duties on assigned project(s).
- Provide or facilitate the provision of instruction and training for Welders and NDE personnel as is found necessary to meet the needs of assigned project(s).
- Oversee on-site Welder qualification and NDE personnel competency testing and produce the required documentation of those activities.
- Report discovered deficiencies and suggest preliminary corrective actions to the QA/QC Manager and/or his designees and produce first draft Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when directed to do so.
Qualifications
- Must possess a TWIC card
- Must be willing to work frequent overtime.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able and willing to work at elevated heights from ladders, scaffolding, aerial work platforms, etc.
- Must be able to lift and carry as much as 50 pounds.
- Must possess the following current/valid Inspection credentials:
- AWS CWI - Certified Welding Inspector
- Not mandatory but a plus if the candidate possesses one of the following current/valid Inspection credentials:
- API-653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector
- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Thorough understanding of industry practices, codes and standards.
