Job Summary

The Senior Manager, AMER Operations Compliance - EHS leads and manages Environmental, Health & Safety compliance across the AMER region, ensuring alignment with global policies, local regulations, and Equinix's commitment to a safe and healthy workplace. This role oversees EHS audits, risk management, training, and continuous improvement initiatives for all AMER operations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead, recruit, develop, and retain EHS compliance staff within the AMER region.
  • Oversee and manage internal and external EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS laws, regulations, and Equinix global standards.
  • Investigate non-compliance, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain local EHS procedures tailored to site-specific and regional requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to operations teams on EHS best practices and policies.
  • Track and report EHS metrics (e.g., incident rates, audit findings) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with regional and global EHS, Legal, and Operations teams to maintain robust safety protocols.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for EHS compliance in the AMER region.

Knowledge & Application


  • Establish operational objectives, policies, and procedures for EHS compliance.
  • Develop and execute company policies affecting AMER operations.
  • Manage department budgets and resources to meet compliance goals.
  • Recommend and implement changes to EHS policies and procedures.
  • Guide and influence teams on EHS compliance methods and techniques.

Complexity & Problem Solving


  • Address complex EHS compliance issues requiring conceptual thinking and in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Implement policies and select methods for achieving EHS compliance results.
  • Drive strategy and success of EHS projects impacting multiple areas of the organization.

Discretion & Impact


  • Decisions directly impact short-term results and operational safety.
  • Translate functional EHS plans into operational processes and guide execution.
  • Erroneous decisions may result in critical delays or increased risk.

Collaboration & Interaction


  • Interact regularly with management, peers, and external stakeholders on EHS matters.
  • Persuade and influence others in sensitive or complex EHS situations.
  • Communicate and present EHS results and recommendations across disciplines.

Management & Supervision


  • Manage activities of EHS professionals and/or skilled technicians.
  • Advise teams on moderately complex EHS matters.
  • Guide by function or department practices and management precedents.

Qualifications


  • Demonstrated experience in EHS compliance
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in data center environments
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - DE2 Denver : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

United States - DC10 Washington DC : 150,000 - 224,000 USD / Annual

United States - NY4 New York City : 150,000 - 224,000 USD / Annual

United States - DA1 Dallas : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
