Job Overview:

The Industrial Technologies & Services - Americas business unit has an opportunity for an Applications Engineer for the ETO (Engineered to Order) tendering team. As an Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bolstering the growth of our Engineered to Order products within the Engineered Systems and Services North American sales channels, with a particular focus on our Air Solutions portfolios. Your responsibilities include delivering strategic sales support through a range of services. You will be a driving force behind our inside sales efforts, offering invaluable expertise in application guidance, meticulous specification review, and the adept generation of competitive pricing and compelling quotes. Your expertise will be especially critical for the intricate Centrifugal compressors, Rotary compressors, and other closely associated components that constitute our compressed air system solutions. In this position, you will shoulder primary responsibility for providing tactical sales and marketing support, paving the way for dramatic growth in our Engineered to Order products. This is an instrumental role that will help position our offerings effectively in the market, all while nurturing relationships that ensure sustained success for our organization. Responsibilities:


  • Product Application: Provide support to the sales team in application/use of equipment through review of customer specifications/requirements.

  • Engineering Information: Identify drawings, documentation, and testing requirements or needs of customers.

  • Vertical Market Expertise: Understand the requirements of customers in our key vertical markets to provide the sales channel with clear direction for required scope of supply and product value positioning.

  • Specials Quote Management: Create a database of special quotes to improve quote accuracy and speed.

  • Scope Clarification and Communication: Develop and communicate project/product scope requirements throughout the organization on complex engineered orders. Ensure products supplied meet customer requirements.

  • Technical Support: Provide product technical guidance aligning customer requirements and needs for sales team and potential customers.

  • Special Quote Generation: Provide product application and best in class quotations for complex engineered products including delivery, and price for equipment.

  • Customer Interface: Act as a technical resource to support sales efforts on complex engineered orders. Participate in customer project kickoff meeting and customer visits.

  • Order Processing Assistance: Assist in booking order in the system for complex engineered products.

  • Competitive and Solutions Strategy: Develop competitive and solution strategies in conjunction with the sales teams to position Ingersoll Rand industrial air solutions to capture orders.

  • Sales Team Training: Responsible for providing sales team training on product through classroom or local training sessions that maximize effectiveness of our sales team and drive growth in market share.




Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2+ years of related technical sales experience

Preferences:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Technical, Scientific, or Engineering

  • Will consider strong technical experience in lieu of education

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines




Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:


  • This position will be 100% onsite at our corporate offices in Davidson, NC.
