Hourly Pay Range:

$31.92 - $47.88 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Manager, Fitness Programs

  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL

  • Full Time, 40 hours

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

  • May work 1 weekend day (Sat or Sun, not both) every 2 months

What you will do:

  • Identify, recruit, and train effective fitness industry professionals, encourage cooperation, teamwork and facilitate constructive conflict resolution, assess staff ability and recommend development opportunities, contribute to the staff's annual performance review, motivate staff to achieve goals, and ensure appropriate staff coverage through strategic and effective scheduling.

  • Plan the work-unit's budget and manage income and expenditure, through responsible implementation of policies, practices and decisions in order to achieve unit objectives effectively and efficiently.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of classes, programs, services and events that are safe, effective, and provide an experience to the user, including program content and program evaluation/feedback from staff and users.

  • Entering, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form for staff records, department manuals, and program materials.

  • Monitor activities and provide information to various levels of management so as to enable in judging the effectiveness of their responsibility areas and become a base for taking corrective measures, if necessary. Areas such as participation/class attendance, program outcomes, revenue from programs and initiatives.

  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others for both staff and member.

  • Provide a minimum of 2 hours a week of professional instruction to members/community as a Group Fitness Instructor, Fitness Coach or other professional role. Answer inquiries from members in a timely manner. Comply with the standards and requirements of all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and industry guidelines that impact the operations of the fitness center (i.e., Confidentiality Policies and Procedures). Ensure professional credentials are maintained.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in an exercise science related field.

  • Certification: NCCA accredited certification in the fitness industry (ACSM/ACE preferred).

  • Experience: One to three years Working in the fitness industry as an instructor or provider. Other Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Other Experience in the medical fitness field at the minimum work experience required for the job.
