THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Correctional Industries Manager 2, you will manage the operations at the Correctional Industries (CI) Textile Plant, Printing/Sticker Plant, Snowplow/Wheel Refurbishing Plant, and Soap/Detergent Plant located with the Forest, Mercer, and Huntingdon SCIs. You will coordinate duties with the Correctional Industries Manager 1 to ensure efficient and effective production. This will include:

  • Directing the overall operations of CI industries
  • Establishing priorities, goals, and objectives
  • Allocating staffing and maintaining an annual budget
  • Developing and implementing functional work processes and procedures
  • Scheduling orientation and on-the-job training programs for staff and inmate workers
  • Conducting inspections, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and processes
  • Overseeing inventory control, time and production records, payroll records, cost control, and cost analysis
  • Ordering raw materials and supplies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • The work location will be determined based on the selected candidate. Possible work locations include SCI Forest (Forest County), SCI Mercer (Mercer County), and SCI Huntingdon (Huntingdon County).
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation, including three years of supervisory experience; or
  • One year of experience as a Correctional Industries Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • A Master's Degree with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related area and two years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, including three years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or a service oriented production operation. Formal study at a college or university with major course work in industrial engineering, business administration, public administration, vocational education, industrial education, or related training may be substituted for non-supervisory experience on a year-for- year basis to a maximum of four years.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
