Goldman Sachs Alternatives Private Credit

Established in 1996, Private Credit at Goldman Sachs Alternatives is one of the world's largest private credit investors with over $150 billion in assets across senior direct lending, mezzanine debt, hybrid capital and asset finance. Deep industry and product knowledge, extensive relationships and global footprint position Private Credit to deliver scaled outcomes with speed and certainty, supporting companies from the lower middle market to large cap in size.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Asset & Wealth Management Legal is seeking an experienced credit attorney to provide transactional legal coverage for Private Credit teams working on asset-based loans secured by a range of physical or financial assets, structured credit transactions involving contractual obligations of investment grade rated corporates and other structured finance transactions, such as financings for energy transition projects. The attorney will work as part of a term of AWM credit lawyers and will also support fund financing for AWM private-side fund vehicles, including subscription credit facilities, NAV-based facilities, credit ABLs and hybrid facilities. The position offers the opportunity to partner with the business and other control-side areas and oversee legal aspects throughout the transaction life cycle, including the analysis of legal and reputational issues as part of investment committee and portfolio management processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Advising on the structuring, negotiation and execution of asset-based and structured financing transactions, taking into account legal, regulatory, reputational and compliance issues
  • Supporting ongoing portfolio management
  • Managing outside counsel and overseeing legal due diligence
  • Handling transaction-related fund and fiduciary issues
  • Coordinating with other control-side areas


QUALIFICATIONS



  • 5-7 years' relevant experience working in a leading law firm and financial institution
  • Strong lending experience is required, including asset finance, fund finance and structured credit
  • Experience with private funds and managed accounts is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate ideas and develop stakeholder relationships
  • Team-oriented with ability to respond and be flexible to client demands while adhering to firm policies and group practices
  • Ability to engage proactively as an advisor to the business and collaboratively work with other control areas
