ABOUT THE ROLE

The Yard & Shipping Laborer supports the safe and efficient handling, stockpiling, and loading of precast products for shipment to job sites. This role works as part of a yard crew to prepare materials, secure loads, and assist with cranes, forklifts, and rigging operations. Success in this position requires physical strength, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Salary range $25-$27/Hour. Based on location and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Assist in stockpiling and loading precast panels and products for shipment
  • Climb on and off trailers and material stockpiles safely
  • Carry and position blocking, rigging, and other handling materials
  • Operate load chains, tie-down belts, and binders to secure shipments
  • Assist with crane operations using proper hand signals and rigging practices
  • Operate forklift (training provided if not already certified)
  • Remove snow and ice from trailers and products using propane burners
  • Maintain safe yard practices and follow all loading procedures
  • Support general yard organization, cleanup, and material handling
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support shipping operations

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read load lists, handling instructions, and basic documentation
  • Basic math skills and ability to use a tape measure
  • Forklift experience preferred (training available)
  • Experience with cranes, rigging, and hand signals preferred
  • Ability to safely climb, lift, and work on elevated surfaces and trailers
  • Strong awareness of safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to learn shipping and material handling processes quickly


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
