SCOPE OF POSITION

The Planner/Buyer is responsible for proactively purchasing raw materials and components to meet Production and Customer requirements by managing the planning and procurement functions, monitoring inventory levels and lead times, developing and maintaining vendor relationships, and working cross-functionally within the Organization.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

This position reports to the Materials Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Procures and plans all materials, products, and services utilized throughout the company.

  • Creates spreadsheets to track/identify cost analysis, supplier on time, quality issues, continuous improvement, etc.

  • Develops processes that improve productivity and streamline the activities of materials while increasing the efficiency of the team.

  • Maintains open communication and a strong functional relationship with all suppliers through verbal and written communications.

  • Assists all areas of production with the day-to-day needs related to part shortages or concerns needed to satisfy customers on time shipments

  • Maintains knowledge of AERCO's processes, techniques, business strategy, new products, tools, equipment, etc.

  • Monitors and updates all purchase orders to ensure that all pricing, delivery dates, QTY's, etc. are correct and current.

  • Works with Accounting and Receiving regarding all pricing, delivery, and receipts issues.Follow through on root cause action items and create a detailed spreadsheet to track and record all actions/issues.

  • Works with the materials team to set up and maintain the Kanban system for Material releasing to suppliers and material flow to the point of use.

  • Additional responsibilities and objectives will be added as needed based on business and area needs.

  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Materials Manager or the Company management.

  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

  • Travel Requirements: 10%

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Negotiation skills

  • Strong customer service skills and orientation

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills

  • Strong team player

  • Computer proficiency

  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing

  • Ability to communicate in English

  • Detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and self-motivated

  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices, as applicable.

  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 1+ year experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Materials Management within a lean manufacturing environment.

*CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPM or APICS preferred, but not required

The expected salary range for this position is $60K- $66K yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company's AERCO International, Inc. location in Blauvelt, NY. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods

  • Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.

  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
