THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is an entry-level caseworker position in Behavioral Health & Developmental Support (BHDS). The caseworker will be responsible for linking, coordinating, and monitoring the services that are available to individuals in need of behavioral health interventions and services while managing their caseload. The caseworker will be the single point of contact in helping individuals and their families obtain the necessary services, supports and assistance they need.

It is the duty of the caseworker to carry out the duties and responsibilities for case management and consumer advocacy for existing and all new cases assigned. Casework lends itself with challenging issues but there is an opportunity to facilitate positive change that results in helping the people in the community. This is a rewarding career, that affords the caseworker the opportunity to make a difference in the communities they serve.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
