Job Summary:
We are seeking a
CNC Machinist/Programmer
proficient in conversational
programming to
program,
set
up,
and
operate
CNC
mills/lathes
.
You
will translate blueprints into machine instructions directly at the controller-bypassing external CAM software-to produce high-quality parts. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, prototype, or low-volume production environments, utilizing onboard
control
features
to
optimize
cycle
times
and
ensure
precision.
Key
Responsibilities
- Conversational Programming: Directly input part geometry, tooling, and machining parameters into the CNC controller (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, or similar) to generate machine paths.
- Setup & Operation: Perform machine setup, including tool selection, fixture preparation, and work offset calibration.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications; make necessary offsets or program adjustments to maintain tolerances.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify machining issues (tool wear, chatter, finish quality) during production runs.
- Workflow Optimization: Manage quick-turnaround jobs by efficiently using conversational canned cycles and pre-programmed settings.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine preventative maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.

- Experience: Proven experience in a CNC machining role with a heavy emphasis on conversational programming.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of speeds, feeds, material properties, and cutting tool selection.
- Math/Logic: Strong shop math skills.
- Independence: Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks in a production environment.
- Attitude: Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and willing to work overtime as required by production schedules.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience with specific control interfaces (e.g., Mazatrol, Fagor, Haas NGC, Hurco).
- Ability to perform basic G-code editing if conversational limits are reached.
- Prior experience in prototype, job shop, or tool & die environments.
